House Renovation: Do you have any skills. If not why don’t you try and gain some. I was round a friend’s house on Wednesday he had been doing it up for a while and I hadn’t seen him for about eighteen months. I remember when he first bought his property it was a real state. He could plaster walls but that was about it. Well I take my hat off to him, when I walked into his house it blew me away. He did most of the work himself, it was amazing. It is fair to say that some people are better at DIY than others but he went on courses and learnt what he needed................ his kitchen is to die for. The point being..... Do you have any skill that you don’t use?

The housing market ….. what’s happening with it?
It has been a long time since our industry has had some good news. This recession seems to have gone on forever and there is no sign of recover yet. I have been looking at moving recently and to my surprise many houses do seem to be selling. Could it be that the bad news in the rest of Europe just has not hit us yet, or does this mean that it wont affect us?
I hope that it is the latter. The thought of another seven year down turn is just a killer. The construction industry seems to be doing OK generally, but there is no profit in anything and competition is tight.
Most people I know in the industry are on their nerves waiting for one of the big companies to go bust, which no doubt one will.
My next plan is to find a house to renovate over the next few years. House renovation is something that I can do but have never done………Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
