Decorative Stone

Decorative Stone: Many landscapers and property designers are using decorative stone to enhance their projects. There are vast amounts to choose from.

Much of the stone is imported but there are still various methods of delivery for decorative stone (see list below)

1. Tipper – up to 20 tons of material
2. Jumbo bag – 850kg approx
3. Small bags- from 5kg to 25kg

Decorative stone is used on driveways, garden areas paths etc and is not a sub-base material.

Decorative Stone:

Plum Slate: A natural occurring material found mainly in Wales.
A popular choice as a bedding feature for many homes. Slate is a
quarried material and comes in different sizes. Can be sold loose
or in bags. A sort after building material

Gabion Stone:Commonly used in retaining wall baskets
(gabion baskets). This beautiful looking stone is now
becoming popular for all house builders as it gives a great
effect. The stone can be Limestone, Graniteor Basalt. Sizes
 vary depending on basket size; 150mm to 200mm is
more common. The colour will depend on type of gabion stone.

Cotswold Buff: A classic decorative stone
CB Very popular on driveways ,but also widely used on paths.
This decorative aggregate is a warm creamy colour,
with a particle size of around 20mm. The stone is usually a limestone.
This material si classed as a premium building material

Pea Gravel/Shingle: Also classed as a building material
This material is a premium washed aggregate and usually around 10mm
in size. There are many application for pea shingle e.g. drainage,
pathways or driveways. Shingle can be found all over the UK and is a very
 popular building material. Load sizes can be from one to up to twenty on
 an eight wheel tipper. There are two main types of pea grave/shingle,
 angular or round. Angular is the more common as it is quarried in land.
The rounded pea shingle is mainly found on coastal areas.

Granite:This is a very hard material that is only found in certain parts of the
UK. Because of it’s durability many builders use it for driveways or bad
weather defences. Colours can vary and so can sizes.Granite can also be
 found in brick form known as granite sets. These measure approx
300mm in length and 100mm in width. ) commonly used for paving.
 

Sand Stone: A sedimentary material that is commonly found in rockeries
or garden walls. Although slightly porous sandstone is still quite heavy
and so in some cases is used in floors. This building material can come
in many shapes and sizes, but is more common as a rockery stone. T
hese sizes are typically around 450mm in length and 150mm in height.
This building material can be delivered both loose or bagged.
