Type 1 MOT Limestone is a building material commonly used for sub-bases due to its compaction qualities. When rolled down and compacted the material forms a tight hard layer .MOT Type 1 is a quarried premium aggregate used largely in the construction of roads, driveways and sub-bases. It is typically pink in colour and the particle size is around 40mm down to dust.
MOT Type 1 can be delivered in jumbo bags or loose and is widely used and respected as the number one sub-base material in the UK today.
Another name for Type 1 MOT is “Type 1 Roadstone”. This name emerged from road gangs during the 1970’s when a lot of the motorways we use today were first being built.
Limestone is found in bulk in the North West of England and this is where most of the Limestone quarries are found. The material is hauled from here all over the country where it is supplied to merchants as stock.
